International Union, Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America (SPFPA). is a labor organization based in Roseville, Michigan that represents protective security officers at federal workplaces. Pursuant to that representation, SPFPA executed collective bargaining agreements with several employers covering the security industry in several states.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – A Florida couple former SPFPA VP @ Large Rick O'Quinn & his wife Mabel O'Quinn pled guilty today to conspiracy to provide and receive prohibited labor payments, in violation of the Labor Management Relations Act, also known as the Taft-Hartley Act.

It is time for a leadership transition at SPFPA. ​​ David L. Hickey has led this union for decades, but tenure alone cannot justify the decisions that have put millions of dollars in member dues at risk. According to the Department of Labor Records filed by SPFPA, since 2017, SPFPA Hickey has spent more than $3,000,000 million dollars in legal fees from his dues paying members hard earned money pursuing legal action against a rival union—without recovering a single dollar.

On August 23, Esper Alexander, former president of Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America Local 1111, was sentenced in Wayne County (Michigan) District Court for the State of Michigan to six months of probation and three days of community service for larceny by conversion of funds from the Detroit union in a sum of at least $200 but less than $1,000. Waynesboro, GA (February 10, 2026) -  – Nuclear security officers working for Southern Nuclear Operating Company have freed themselves from the control of Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America (SPFPA) union officials in their workplace.

At the order of officials from the International Union of Security Police and Fire Professionals of America (SPFPA), AKAL suspended Juan without pay for over a year because he had exercised his right under Texas’ Right to Work law to refuse to pay union dues. Texas is one of 24 Right to Work states that prohibit compulsory dues.
